Distribution Methods of Hellblade

Hellblade is distributed by giving retail stores like Brick and Mortar retailers their game, they can then put it in different retail stores.

Brick and Mortar Retailers (In Stores):

Brick and Mortar retailers can sell physical copies and digital copies of games, therefore when distributing Hellblade, they can give them the copy of it and distribute it through the stores. The physical copies can be new, deluxe editions or used ones, so if they made a version of that for Hellblade, they would put it in shops for them. The digital copies can be codes, which can be for unlock certain things in the game like skins, new weapons, missions, different locations sometimes, new items and more, so they could give them downloadable content for Hellblade. They can also have digital copies of the games pre-installed on the console so they could sell Hellblade with a PS4, like if they had it pre-installed on a memory unit or SD, depending on what it uses. In a store called CEX, it sells second hand games only and these are mainly only physical copies so if someone didn't like the game Hellblade then they would hand it in for money and then someone else might buy it and which can be very cheap but sometimes they stay the same price, like the Nintendo switch games, since they are normally £50-£40 and the ones in there are nearly £50. Whereas in stores like GAME, they sell a mix, they have a section for used copies, which are on the physical kinds and then the rest are brand new copies of the games, they also have pre-orders and the digital copies are also in there, their prices are normally higher, which can be quite expensive, so they could put pre-orders for Hellblade in game and make Hellblade a high price, to make more money. Supermarket stores like Tesco, also sell games and these can sometimes be cheaper than the ones in GAME, since they don't base their whole shop around games, so there is another shop they could sell Hellblade in.

Advantages and Disadvantages of selling Hellblade in stores

Advantages:

- One of the advantages of buying physical copies from the retailers is you can see if they are in good condition or not.
- You don't get used copies of codes (since some people sell fakes) and you know the code is definitely brand new and that it's going to work.
- When you buy it you can check the disk to see if it's clean straight away.
- Refunds are quick and easy, so you don't have to wait very long.
- You can get refunds, since some online shops don't do refunds.
- You also know where it comes from so you can see it's condition and you know it's not fake.

Disadvantages:

 - If you buy a pre-owned item, then sometimes the disk can be scratched, sometimes so bad that you can't use the disk at all anymore.
- The second hand game cases can be damaged, which will make it lose a bit of value but with still be a relatively good price, so it's not too expensive but also not very cheap.
- You have to travel to the store to go get the game, which could be really far away, depending on where you live, also you could be very busy, so it could be difficult.
- The store could be out of stock, so you'll have to wait and you won't know when it'll be back in stock.

Online:

When you buy things online, you can buy, once again, both physical and digital copies so they could put their game Hellblade on GAMES website. You can also buy the physical copies of Hellblade on Amazon and Ebay. Amazons prices can start off somewhat small and if it's a pre-order then you can get if for that price and if the price goes up, you only have to pay the price it was originally and they sell most brand new copies and over time, sometimes the prices of the games go down, so they could put the price up on Hellblade if they wanted to and it hadn't come out yet. Whereas on Ebay the prices can be varied, from high to low, while Amazons prices usually stay the same, unless they want to sell all of their stock of something. Ebay sells used and brand new copies of the game, but it's normally used, so if they had returned copies of Hellblade they could sell the games online, on Ebay. The online price can usually be cheaper than retail prices but sometimes it can be more due to packaging, specially depending on where its coming from, so they could also charge more for Hellblade depending on where it's coming from. The digital copies can brought on different things, depending on what you have, such as the nintendo Wii U and/or a 3DS, you use the Eshop to buy digital copies, to download them onto it, for a 3DS you would download it to the SD card, sometimes they have sales which can be less expensive as shop ones or the opposite. So they could put Hellblade on the PS4 store so they don't have to go out and buy a hard copy of it. Online shops like Steam, it can be really expensive, since you can buy point/ put money online to buy certain games and if you were buying a steam card from retailers it would be very expensive since the least amount you can buy is £50 last time i checked and the Eshop one, the least you can get for that is £15 and if you do it digitally and not online, you don't have to pay as much, since you can buy a single game. So if they wanted people who play only PC or play more PC games than console they could sell Hellblade on steam.

Advantages and Disadvantages of sell Hellblade online

Advantages:

- You can pre-order it and get it before the people who pre-ordered it in the shops, so you can play it first.
- You can add however much you want to buy a bunch of different games.
- Sometimes they'll have the games come in bundles, so it's cheaper.
- If you brought it online, you can buy it with codes or dlc, whereas in retailers, you don't always get the dlc or codes with it.
- You don't have to go out and get it, so if you are busy you don't have to take time out of your busy day to go and buy it.
- With the packaging, you can get next day delivery, so it gets there faster

Disadvantages:

- If you pick next day delivery, it won't always get there the next day and if you do pick that then sometimes you have to pay more.
- Sometimes when the sales are on, they only last for very limited time.
- Sometimes you might have to pay more for packaging, so you have the game price plus the packaging on top of that, so you have to be prepared to spend either a lot or a bit extra.
- Sometimes you can't have refunds or you have a 30 day return policy and you might forget to play it and then you do decide to play it but then it might not work and you can't return it.

Advertising

Hellblade, the game, is advertised on IGN, which is a website, which is a website for video games news, reviews and walkthroughs. The product is also advertised on TV sometimes and also in public places, which shows a big images, which is like the poster, but it's  been placed on a wall for people to see when they drive past. If there is a website you check a lot, you can see the updates for when it is released and also what the new games coming up are. Hellblade can also be advertised in magazines, which you can buy in Tesco, there are specific magazines for video games, for the ones that are coming out and the ones that are already out, there is an official PlayStation magazine, which shows you the new games coming soon.
IGN website:

On an advertisement for Hellblade, the placing of advertising it is on the front cover of the magazine and then tells you more details about it inside the magazine.  On the website, the advertisement for Hellblade is below the search bar and then underneath that is the title "Hellblade: Senuas Sacrifice Released Date Announced" and then tell you a bit of information about it and then it has the trailer underneath that, then theres a bit more information about it.

How they advertise Hellblade is, first they get the gameplay footage, then they will advertise it on TV and tell you that it will be out soon. Then on video game websites they will tell you more information about the game and it could be on the front page or the advertisement that they have down the sides. They can also advertise it through YouTube, by uploading a trailer to it and then gamers will watch it and then it can possibly hit trending so then even the people who aren't gamers will see it and might possibly watch it because it's trending. It is also advertised on billboards in Cambridge, so when you drive by you can see it and you then might look it up later to go check it out. They also advertise it through digital streaming surfaces, so it could be advertised on the Xbox games store, so then you can buy it and download it and also on the PS4 and on the games store sometimes it can be the big thumbnail that pops ups.

The way Hellblade targets it's audience is by, if you are seeing the billboard, it will only show you Senua's face and she looks like she is ready to fight, which makes it seem like its a fighting game also the face paint she has on her face indicates that as well and there is a bunch of darkness surrounding her and a bit of light shinning on her face. If it's the trailer to target it's audience it puts specific fight scenes in, only the ones that look the best and not all so it makes their target audience, the kind who play fighting games, more interested in it, since it has a good fighting animation. They also make the graphics look real to advertise to their target audience because then it's like the real world and not look like some poor quality game and if it is a good quality graphic game you can engage with it more and escape from reality. The imagery for Hellblade looks realistic but also like a fantasy world which will make players who like the quality of graphics/imagery and a fantasy type game more likely to play it since it will fit their interests. The colours are quite dark, which then make player who like the more messed up stuff more likely to play it since psychosis is a mental disorder where you can see messed up things and Hellblade has violent images in it therefore the people who would play this would be into violence, mainly game violence.
